Medium or heavy iron on interfacing 16" by 5.1/4"

Sewing machine

Thread to match or contrast

Iron

Instructions

Iron on the interfacing to the wrong side of the white fabric. With a Frixion pen mark a quarter inch line along the top and bottom of the white fabric. Fold the fabric along these lines.

Sew your block or fussy cut a picture and quilt it on the wadding but do not use any backing fabric.

Trim the block and wadding to 51/4" square.

INVERT THE BLOCK.

(I know it sounds silly but otherwise the card will be upside down when you finish.) Right sides together - Sew the white fabric to three sides of the quilted block leaving the fourth side open, making a sort of pocket.

Trim the corners and turn right sides out.

Fold the white fabric into threes as shown in the diagram. One fold will be about 5 inches the second fold about 5 inches and the final piece will measure about 6 inches. This longer piece will fit into the pocket.

You need to trim the piece that will tuck into the quilt pocket as shown in the diagram. Press the folds nice and sharp and then sew all the way around. I used a zigzag stitch which covers the raw edge of the patchwork and makes a nice frame on the card.

Iron well, write a message and post to someone who will appreciate a lovely hand made card.x
